Festoon Lighting
Festoon lighting — sometimes called string lights, party lights or cafe lights — is warm bulb lighting that runs along a cable between poles, across a ceiling or around the perimeter of a venue. We hire it out in 100-metre runs that link together for larger sites, and we install it indoors and outdoors, in marquees and in the open air, at festivals, weddings, corporate events and community gatherings.

We supply festoon lighting in 100-metre runs for £149, with each additional 100 metres at £99. The bulbs are warm — the kind of light that works from early evening through to the end of the night — and the cable runs can be linked together to cover festival sites, event villages, marquee setups or large indoor venues. If you need several hundred metres across multiple areas, we can lay that out on a site visit before the event.
Festoon lighting works across most event settings. Outdoors, it defines walkways between stages and tents, marks out event village boundaries and provides warm light across open-air dining areas and bars. Indoors, it adds warmth to exhibition halls, warehouse venues, function rooms and church halls — anywhere a trade-show hall or bare room benefits from a bit of soft bulb light.
Festoon lighting also works particularly well in marquees, strung along the ceiling ridge or around the perimeter poles. We have supplied festoon lighting as part of the event infrastructure for the Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity fundraising events, where it runs alongside stages, PA systems and crowd barriers.
Steven Singleton has worked with us for community events over a number of years and says we "deliver a professional stage sound and lighting package." Laura Waude hired a variety of equipment from us for a council gala and says we have "excellent staff and equipment to suit all budgets and occasions."
We own the lighting ourselves — it is part of the kit we keep in our 25,000 sq ft warehouse in Rotherham, just off the M1 and M18, alongside around 95% of everything else on this site. That means the same crew who bring the festoon lighting also install it, connect it and take it down afterwards, and if something needs sorting on the night there is no separate lighting contractor to call. We deliver nationwide, including to venues like NEC Birmingham, Manchester Central, ExCel London and Telford Exhibition Centre, and we cover Sheffield, Leeds, Doncaster and Barnsley with short-notice availability.
All hires include risk assessments and method statements, and we carry £5 million public liability insurance as standard.
Pairing Festoon Lighting with Event Infrastructure
Festoon lighting on its own handles the ambient side of things, but most events need more than one type of lighting to run properly. For outdoor and marquee events, we can supply festoon lighting alongside generators or battery generators to power the runs where there is no mains supply nearby, and we pair it with PA systems for the sound side of the event.
For events that need structure around the lighting — walkways, stage perimeters, audience areas — we supply crowd barriers and marquees and gazebos as part of the full infrastructure package. Modular deck staging and a lectern or podium complete the setup for community galas, charity fundraisers and corporate functions where lighting is one part of a wider production.
